Frequently Asked Questions
The questions teams ask us most often before the first demo.
Who is OakCore for?
Teams building requirements-driven products who need to stay on top of complexity: product, systems engineering, quality, and development. Especially when Excel, Word, or tickets are no longer enough and traceability, reviews, or standards like ISO 26262 and IEC 62304 matter.
Does OakCore replace tools like DOORS, Polarion, or Codebeamer?
OakCore is built as a modern alternative. Requirements live in a connected graph instead of rigid lists. You keep traceability, versioning, and governance, but work faster and with more transparency. That lowers development and approval costs and improves team satisfaction through intuitive, modern tooling.
What happens to our existing requirements?
You do not start from zero. Existing data can be imported, for example from CSV, JSON, or ReqIF. OakCore structures it in the graph so you can continue without interruption.
Where is our data stored?
OakCore runs on certified servers in Europe. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Security and privacy are part of the architecture from the start, not bolted on later.
What integrations are available?
Connections to planning tools like Jira or Azure DevOps, Git repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket), and CI pipelines. Status and test results flow back into the specification. The API also lets you build custom integrations.
Is OakCore only for regulated industries?
No. In automotive, medtech, or aerospace, teams use OakCore for standards, audit trails, and traceability aligned with ISO 26262, IEC 62304, or ASPICE. In less regulated projects you benefit from the same graph: fewer silos, faster reviews, better AI support, and a clear handoff to engineering. The value shows up even without certification pressure.
How does the AI use our project data?
The AI works on your project graph: requirements, tests, risks, and links. Answers and scores refer to what is documented in your project. Your team reviews every recommendation before anything is adopted.
Do we have to change how we work completely?
No. OakCore adapts to your project: your own sub-types, attributes, status models, and validation rules. You can keep your existing processes and benefit from tooling that makes execution faster, more transparent, and more secure.
On-premise or cloud only?
Both are possible. The default is the hosted option in Europe. We also offer on-premise or private cloud for companies with specific deployment or data residency requirements. Get in touch and we will find the right setup for you.
What is the best way to get started?
